2024: A Year of Progress and Collaboration for AFBA

As we reflect on the past year, 2024 has undoubtedly been one of growth, achievement, and strong partnerships for the Aruba Food & Beverage Association (AFBA). This year, we made significant strides that underscore our commitment to advancing the industry and fostering a supportive network for our members.

Here’s a look at some of the key achievements that made 2024 a remarkable year for AFBA:

1. Organizational Growth and Statute Renewal

In 2024, AFBA took an important step forward by renewing and successfully registering our updated statutes. This move modernized our governance framework and streamlined our financial operations, ensuring a higher level of transparency and efficiency. The updated statutes position AFBA to operate more effectively and continue building trust with our members, creating a foundation for long-term growth and stability.

2. Advocacy for Work Permit Reforms

One of the most critical challenges faced by our members has been the complex and time-consuming process of obtaining work visas for foreign employees. In response, AFBA intensified our advocacy efforts throughout 2024, working in close collaboration with the Government of Aruba and particularly the Minister of Labor. Our collective goal has been to push for reforms that simplify and expedite work permit procedures. These efforts reflect our unwavering dedication to supporting our members, helping them overcome regulatory barriers, and ensuring access to the talent necessary for their growth and success.

3. Fostering Synergy and Collaboration

AFBA has always recognized that collaboration is essential to drive progress. This year, we prioritized building strong connections with other associations and stakeholders, both within the food and beverage sector and beyond. By holding productive meetings and engaging in meaningful dialogue, we sought opportunities for synergy and cooperative initiatives. Strengthening these partnerships has not only amplified our voice but has also opened up new pathways for collective achievements that will benefit Aruba’s hospitality and food and beverage industries as a whole.

4. Workforce Development and Education

Understanding that a skilled workforce is vital for the industry’s success, AFBA expanded its partnership with Openbare Avondleergangen Aruba (OAA) to include more advanced and industry-specific training programs. These initiatives equipped workers with the practical skills they need to excel in the food and beverage sector. We are particularly proud to support the launch of a new course scheduled for early 2025, which will further enhance our industry’s talent pool and contribute to the professional growth of our workforce.

5. Membership Growth and Community Engagement

2024 marked a significant milestone for AFBA, as we grew our membership to include more than 100% of businesses within the industry. This remarkable growth highlights the trust and confidence our members place in us and reflects the strength and resilience of Aruba’s food and beverage sector. With a more robust membership base, we’ve been able to amplify our collective voice and foster a diverse and collaborative network that is better equipped to face the challenges ahead.

6. Strengthening Our Digital Presence

Recognizing the importance of staying connected in today’s digital age, AFBA focused on enhancing our online presence. We revamped our website to make it more user-friendly and informative, and we increased our activity on social media platforms to engage with members and the wider community. These updates have improved our ability to share important updates, promote initiatives, and foster a sense of community, helping us reach more people and make a greater impact.

As we close out 2024, we’re proud of these accomplishments and grateful for the continued support and trust of our members, partners, and stakeholders. Here’s to a future filled with growth, unity, and success for the Aruba Food and Beverage industry!
